SUMMARY:Thames Chase Guided Walk to Thorndon
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a guided walk around Thorndon. \nMeet at 10:00am at Thorndon Country Park North off The Avenue\, outside the visitor centre. \nThe walk will follow a cicular route of around 5 miles in distance. We will walk from the North to the South side of the park\, through woodland and meadow with a variety of flora and fauna. We will see some interesting old trees including the Crinoline Lady\, an old oak pollard. The site is also of historical interest\, with a connection to the Petre family who owned the two Thorndon Halls. We will pass the Pigeon Mount\, the site of a dovecote which is the only visible sign of the original Thorndon Hall demolished in 1763.
