SUMMARY:Orsett Show - Travelling Archaeology Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Visit our travelling archaeology exhibition at the Orsett Show on 7 September. \nCome and discover the ‘hidden gems’ that make up your local landscape. The Museum of London Archaeology (MOLA) are highlighting the fascinating history\, archaeology and heritage of the area in a travelling exhibition on behalf of the Land of the Fanns Landscape Partnership Scheme. \nThis travelling exhibition is an exciting way of understanding how London once was; historically made up of fens\, forests and farms\, the exhibition highlights how it has developed over the centuries and how the area was significant for the creation of wealth; it’s strategic importance in the world wars and the link to the important trade routes to the Thames. It will show there is a great deal of heritage in the local landscape\, of which there are still remnants that people may not been aware of in their local area. You can even take part in a living history activity as part of the exhibition. \n

SUMMARY:Land of the Fanns Photographic Competition
DESCRIPTION:Photo: Robert Stevenson\nEnter our photography competition for amateur photographers for your chance to win one of three prizes in vouchers (1st prize £50\, 2nd prize £20\, 3rd prize £10). Pictures from the competition will be used in Land of the Fanns marketing\, social media and website. \nSend us your photos from around the Land of the Fanns using water\, rivers\, lakes and marshes as your theme. \nSend your photo(s)\, which must be at least 1Mb in size\, along with a title\, brief description\, your name\, address\, telephone number\, the date and location of the photo to landofthefanns@thameschase.org.uk by 30 August 2019.  DEADLINE EXTENDED TO 8 SEPTEMBER. \n  \n \n  \n  \nThe Land of the Fanns is an intricate landscape\, full of surprises and ‘hidden gems’ which straddles the London – Essex boundary and encompasses significant parts of Havering\, Thurrock\, Barking & Dagenham and Brentwood. \nWe are looking for photographs which capture the essence of the area – the landscape\, heritage and the community. \nJudging Criteria \n\nComposition\nAtmosphere\nOriginality\n\n  \nEntry Rules  \n\nEntrants can submit up to 3 photos per round. Age to be advised if under 16.\nCopyright for all images will remain with the respective entrants.\nThe photographer should agree\, unconditionally\, that the photographs submitted may be exhibited and that the Land of the Fanns\, Heritage Lottery Fund and partners may reproduce any of the images for the purposes of promotion\, marketing\, discussion and education\, including publications\, postcards\, posters\, the internet\, etc.\nThe photographer will be credited for the use of their work.\nA statement must be issued to say that the entry is the photographer’s own work.\nEach entry must state when and where the photo was taken.\nPhotos can be black and white or colour.\nImages must be provided as a digital file initially\, at least 1Mb in size (if you have a newish phone or camera this should not be a concern). SUMMARY:Thames Chase Guided Walk - Belhus
DESCRIPTION:Join us for our guided around Belhus. \nThe route will be about 4.5km taking 2.0 – 2.5 hours. \nGoing first across Aveley Road through Whitepost Woods\, which should start to be carpeted by fallen chestnuts then back to the visitors centre. \nFrom there we will go up the main path beside the recently coppiced and replanted woods and play area\, then left beside the first lake through Whitehall Woods. \nCrossing Green Lane 264 into the meadows and walking between the second fishing lake and the conservation lakes\, coming back to the top end of the first lake. \nFrom there we will enter the Little Brick Kiln Woods crossing Running Water into Brick Kiln Woods and across Belhus Chase. \nEntering Running Water Woods\, taking a path to the Memorial Garden\, then back through the woods to the visitors centre. \nThroughout the walk you’ll also learn about the history of Belhus Palace as well as the wildlife and management of the park. \nMeet at the car park at Belhus Woods Country Park\, Romford Road\, Aveley\, South Ockendon\, RM15 4XJ at 10.00am. \n\n\n\nDate\nSaturday 28th September 2019\n\n\nTime\n10am-12:30pm\n\n\nLocation\nBelhus Woods Country Park Car Park \n(Parking Charges Apply)\n\n\nCost\n£3 Donation\n\n\n\nThames Chase Guided Walks are in partnership with Land of the Fanns. \nRaising Funds for Thames Chase Trust (Charity Number: 1115627)
