DESCRIPTION:Further to the governments statement recommending that everyone should avoid unnecessary contact\, close social proximity or travel we have made the decision to postpone all training\, events and gatherings for the foreseeable future. \nEmail landofthefanns@thameschase.org.uk to register your interest in a later date. \n  \nThames21 and partners Land of the Fanns have been installing Natural Flood Management (NFM) features on Rise Park Stream in Bedfords Park\, Havering. This innovative NFM project is designed to reduce flood risk downstream and is also contributing to national flood management data. \nWe are running two events on Thursday 5th March and Saturday 4th April\, 10am – 2pm. \nIf you are curious about NFM and would like to get involved with other local residents in supporting this project please do join us on either day. \nTogether we will: \n\nwalk the stretch of river to learn about the project and observe how the features called leaky woody dams are functioning\nattach interpretation signs and photo position posts near each dam\nundertake practical work if any of the dams require maintenance\nuse the Slow Flow Catcher app to monitor the impact of the dams\n\nPlease register your interest for this event here so more details can be emailed nearer the time. \nAll equipment will be provided\nPlease wear clothing suitable for being outside for the duration of the event.

Whether you manage a community website\, write a blog or want to keep your social media feed updated these sessions will provide you with expert guidance and helpful tips. \nSession 1: Tue 21st April – 13.00-17.00\nStrategies for success: developing a plan for your content and communications  \nThis session will introduce strategic thinking about web content including sourcing and planning stories for the web; identifying and targeting key audiences and looking at how to create messages that will spark enthusiasm. \nSession 2. Thurs 23rd April – 13.00 –17.00\nBringing it to life: Storytelling techniques and tips/tricks for engaging audiences  \nThis session will focus on practical guidance for creating content: from producing engaging headlines to style and writing tips.   We’ll also look at online platforms and social media ‘do and don’ts’.                                \nLocation:  Thames Chase Trust\, Thames Chase Forest\, Pike Ln\, Cranham\, Upminster RM14 3NS \nAbout the Trainer\nHolly Powell-Jones started in news in 2011 and has been designing and running her own media training since 2013.She began her career presenting and producing content for TV news show ‘London 360’ and BBC Radio London\, going on to become a freelance reporter and newsreader for a variety of radio stations. Holly is a guest lecturer on a number of PR\, Journalism and Media courses and recently completed a PhD in social media law and ethics at City\, University of London.
