The route from Davy Down follows the Mardyke Way until it cuts across the fen to Bulphan Church and village. The woodland gives way to the flat fenland which is arable farmland and also the proposed route of the Lower Thames Crossing. \nThe walk will finish with tea and cake\, and a summary of the day from the team\, at Bulphan Village Hall and a chance for everyone to reflect on their hopes and wishes for the future of our landscape. These hopes and wishes will be written or drawn so we can hang them on the wishing tree at Langdon Hills Country Park on the festival finale day\, Sunday 6 June. DESCRIPTION:‘Congratulations – you’ve been awarded funding to deliver your project! But wait – you’re being asked to monitor and evaluate it too? During this training session\, we’ll discuss how to plan and measure your project impact proportionately. Done well\, you will generate the ‘stats’ and ‘stories’ and evidence to wow your funder – and build the case for your next project! \nThis training will be led by Scott Sullivan. Based in South Essex\, Scott specialises in developing\, delivering and evaluating heritage\, environment and arts/culture place-based projects. Since 2015\, he has raised in excess of £7.5 million to help better connect people to place. He is a Chartered Town Planner able to provide qualified advice that gets the best from the planning process\, coupling this professional background with extensive experience in securing funding as a certified Fundraiser. \nMeasuring Impact – the stories\, takes place on 10 June 2021. \nThis training takes place as part of Land of the Fanns Landscape Champions of Tomorrow. The walk takes you from Grays Town Centre down to St Clements Church (featured in Four Weddings and a Funeral). We then walk along the Thames passing the graffiti wall\, the water birds and views of the industry of Thurrock towards Purfleet. Once at Purfleet we will hear about the history of the area including stories of Dracula. \nAt the end of the session there will be a chance for everyone to reflect on their hopes and wishes for the future of our landscape. From those stories illustrations were created to adorn 100 hand painted silk flags. This project culminates in the Tales of the Fanns Arts and Walking Festival\, Saturday 22nd May – Sunday 6th June\, which celebrates the uniqueness of the Land of the Fanns. The walk will take you through a section of the nature trail\, hear about the developments taking place on the site and see the large meadows. You will be met on your travels by Verity the water vole who will tell us all about her friends who live at Pages Wood. \nOn completion of the walk\, there will be a family yoga session in the forest exploring some of the shapes of the animals you may meet there followed by a short session where everyone will reflect on their hopes and wishes for the future of our landscape.
