Natural Flood Management on Rise Park Stream

Thames21 and partnersĀ Land of the FannsĀ have been installing Natural Flood Management (NFM) features on Rise Park Stream in Bedfords Park, Havering. This innovative NFM project is designed to reduce flood risk downstream and is also contributing to national flood management data.

We are running two events onĀ Thursday 5thĀ MarchĀ andĀ Saturday 4th April, 10am ā€“ 2pm.

If you areĀ curious about NFM and would like to get involved with other local residents in supporting this project please do join us on either day.

Together we will:

  • walk the stretch of river to learn about the project and observe how the features called leaky woody dams are functioning
  • attach interpretation signs and photo position posts near each dam
  • undertake practical work if any of the dams require maintenance
  • use the Slow Flow Catcher app to monitor the impact of the dams

Please register your interest for this event hereĀ so more details can be emailed nearer the time.

All equipment will be provided
Please wear clothing suitable for being outside for the duration of the event.
