Riverfly Monitoring Training Course – Rom & Beam

Riverfly Monitoring Training Course – Rom & Beam

Land of the Fanns and London Wildlife Trust are coordinating a Riverfly Monitoring Initiative (RMI) on the River Rom/Beam in 2019. The RMI is a national scheme for monitoring the health of rivers developed by the Riverfly Partnership.

RMI sampling uses the presence and abundance of invertebrates in a sample to gauge the health of your river. Free training in the sampling method will be provided by the Zoological Society of London.

In the training you will learn:

  • The theory of the RMI and how it helps improve rivers
  • How to kick sample ariver
  • How to identify riverinvertebrates and score a sample
  • What to do with the data you collect and how to get involved in Riverfly Monitoring Schemes across London

Please sign up for your ticket to attend free RMI training here.

Places are limited so please make sure you can sample your river for at least 6 months (1 sample per month) before registering.

More information is here; www.riverflies.org/rp-riverfly-monitoring-initiative
