Thames Chase Guided Walk to Thorndon

Join us for a guided walk around Thorndon.

Meet at 10:00am at Thorndon Country Park North off The Avenue, outside the visitor centre.

The walk will follow a cicular route of around 5 miles in distance. We will walk from the North to the South side of the park, through woodland and meadow with a variety of flora and fauna. We will see some interesting old trees including the Crinoline Lady, an old oak pollard. The site is also of historical interest, with a connection to the Petre family who owned the two Thorndon Halls. We will pass the Pigeon Mount, the site of a dovecote which is the only visible sign of the original Thorndon Hall demolished in 1763. There will be stunning views across to the Queen Elizabeth II Bridge and Canary Wharf.
