A free 5 day course over October and November 2021 from 9.45 am to 4pm
at Langdon Hills Country Park, Westley Heights, the Fairway, Basildon, Essex SS16 6HX

Day 1 Friday 22th October
An introduction to woodlands, types of woodlands, ancient, semi natural and plantation, looking at their management.
Tree identification and woodland flora and fauna

Day 2 Monday 25th October
Harvesting timber, coppicing and felling.
Looking at tools and their uses
Dead hedging and looking at ways to protect stools from being damaged

Day 3 Friday 5th November
Woodland crafts, stick making, poll lathing and tools used

Day 4 Monday 8th November
Charcoal making

Day 5 Friday 19th November
Unloading charcoal kiln, using the charcoal made to have a barbecue (food provided)
Take home a bag of your charcoal
Woodland walk to recap on course

Tea, coffee and biscuits provided bring packed lunch except for Day 5
